Baby Kyla!
I'm aware that its somewhat gauche to start off a journal with a picture of a baby, but that's what's happening in my life at the moment, so it seems it's something that bears recording.
This is a picture of my new (and first) niece, Kyla. She was born on Sunday 21 August 2005. She's 12 weeks premature, 28 weeks gestation, 1445g. This is small, but not so bad. She's doing well.

She's all blue because of the UV light on her. Such a little thing. I call her monkey grrl 'cos she's covered in fine downy hair, part of the evolutionary thowbacks that a fetus goes through. Christian, her dad and my brother, doesn't like the nickname though. But then he never really gets my sense of humour.
